Jehovah Makkeh

This woman could be Rahab, the woman with the issue of blood,  or Mary Magdalene or any one of us, we all need Jehovah Makkeh, the God who molds us as we conclude our study of women and the names of God. There are so many, we will have to study them further. There is Jehovah Tsabaoth,  the Lord of Hosts and El Elohay Israel, the God of Israel.  He has a name for everyone and every need. In October, we reach out to the Lord of host on behalf of women, join me to study angels. Rebecca Jones

The Widow’s Mite

Jehovah G’molah is the name I believe the widow would have met. Jesus watched her give her all. And that name means that God is our rewarder. Too often we think of widows as older women, but that is not always the case. There were wars, famines, and pestilence back then, just as now. I have some younger widows on my Pinterest board, one even has children. This woman gave the best she could even though it was not a lot, Jesus saw, maybe even smiled at her. God, Jehovah G’molah  our reward. Rebecca Jones

Jehovah Keren Yish’i

This is Abigal, she was married to a brutal and drunken man Nabal. He refused to feed David’s men and she decided to take matters into her own hands. She had servants pack food and went out to meet them herself. He home was spared. When her husband later died, she ended up married to the King. She proved herself a wise woman, and met God in the name of Jehovah, Keren Yish’ i  which means horn of my salvation. God indeed spared her home and from a brutal man and put her in a palace. Jehovah Elohay

T

The Lord my God, Jehovah Eloy. I chose Puah and Shirah as the women who may have met that name. Working for Pharoah as midwives they were to kill babies but lied to him saying the women were strong and were having babies before they got there. Though we don’t know what happened for sure, the midwives were risking their lives and most like left and married Hebrew men and had their own children. In any event the women were not going to murder children for Pharoah and had to have inclined their ears to Jehovah Elohay. Rebecca Jones

El Elyon

The most sovereign. That is the name for El Elyon. So why did I pick Jezebel? Well, she was a wicked queen and caused many prophets to die before meeting her own hideous death, for that reason alone she would have been left to be judge by a righteous God, a just God, and that is also El Elyon, the most sovereign, she was certainly at His mercy, though she gave none, and it is very truthful to say she received none. Jehovah El Olamin

The widow of Zarapeth, is the woman I chose who met the Lord of the earth, the everlasting God. Jehovah El Olamin is His name, and when the prophet Elijah came and was hungry, she fed him even though she had very little, her son and she were about to starve, but God supernaturally supplied her with a miracle and her oil did not run out. I was calling her Divsha which means honey. Rebecca Jones

Rahab

east womanl on the black background

We’ve looked at the names of God from the Old Testament and the New, now back to the Old. The story of Rahab who helped the spies is our source for the name she may have encountered  Jehovah Go-el. my redeemer, by hiding the spies upon her rooftop, this former prostitute saved not only their lives but the lives of her family and her own. When the walls of Jericho came down, Rahab met Jehovah Go-el, and was redeemed into the lineage of Jesus. Rebecca Jones

El Shaddai

This is absolutely one of my favorite Bible stories of all time. Though many mistake her foe Mary Magdalene, this is Mary of Bethany, Lazarus sister, the one who wanted to sit at His feet and listen instead of helping around the house. ( I used to be the other sister, now everybody can help themselves or wait, Jesus comes first. )

He was at the house of Simon the Leper before being crucified. And you know, if He was there Simon was probably no longer a leper, maybe he was the one who came back and was thankful. Anyway, Mary, once a sinner, was there to break open an alabaster box of precious ointments, over Judas; false objections, she did even though the others objected, but none of them had offered even to wash His feet. You have to realize that custom, being in sandals and walking in the dirt all day.

Forever remember as the woman with the alabaster box, she cried tears and dried his feet with her hair. This is pure and poetic forgiveness  and love. This is my loving Lord, if only a person would come in this humility.

Mary encountered El Shaddai, the large breasted one. Jesus expresses that love here. The translation may be more accurate as many breast one, if you see those idols but God is the one true God with love for many. El Shaddai nourishes and satisfies, the root shadad means to overpower or destroy and God can certainly defeat any foe, certainly, the wicked one.

Mary, is a kind of kindred spirited to me now after study her story in depth, whatever she was she was no more, and she chose the one thing that was needful and inspired me to. How about you? When you kneel in prayer, break open your alabaster box. Rebecca Jones

Jehovah Ori

Since Jehovah Ori means God is my Light, I had a number of ideas about what woman should go here. Mary would have been a good choice, I looked for Jesus healing a blind woman and didn’t see a painting resembling one. Then I thought of His parable of the ten virgins. The five wise kept their oil burning brightly and were ready for the bridegroom. We as believers recognize this as keeping our lives full of the Holy Spirit burning brightly and on fire for God. As believers and wise women of faith, let’s look to Jesus, our Jehovah Ori, and remember He referred to Himself as the light of the world during Hanukkah, even then and forever, for all eternity. Jehovah Jireh

Jehovah Jireh is the God who provides. While most of us consider, our jobs or husbands, and they should be, the provider. ultimately, God is our source and we should be thankful, whatever you believe, or have been taught, God wants to prosper you. You may think you need money, but He wants to give you wisdom first. God always does things the right way.

The widow who was told to make Elijah a cake or bread is a perfect example of this, though she was in lack and about to literally starve with her son, serves fed Elijah, and then miraculously, her food supply was back and her oil never ran out.

Whether it is real food or spiritual food, I pray to receive Jehovah Jireh’s provision and may the oil of Spirit keep me filled and full. How about you? If you have lack in any area or need provision of any kind, be obedient to the Lord and let Jehovah Jireh supply you need according to His riches. Rebecca Jones
